The sock monkey has been adored for many years and never seems to lose its appeal. I have created this sock monkey knitting pattern for all knitters to be able to enjoy making this perennial favorite toy for their families and friends. You can go for the traditional sock monkey colors, or use your creative flair to make a completely unique-looking sock monkey.
The sock monkey is quick to make and is worked on two needles, so there is no fiddly knitting on the round required. The yarn used is light worsted (double knitting/8 ply). The finished monkey measures approximately 14 and a half inches (37 cm) from the top of the head to the tip of the toes.
Since creating the sample sock monkeys for this pattern I have been inundated with requests for me to make more, so get your knitting needles ready and be prepared for lots of orders too!

I lack experience as a knitter. I have more experience with crochet. But I like the look of knit and wanted to try a knit monkey. I have not seen any like this pattern. As pretty much a beginner knitter (I know how to cast on, knit, purl and finish. That's it!) I found this a bit challenging but very do-able. Some of the stitches I had no idea of how to do so I watched YouTube videos on how to. He came out pretty well for a nube knitter!I'm glad I did it. I will be making more monkeys using this pattern.

The directions are easy to follow, but they are written for single-point knitting needles. I am concerned at how the toy will hold up to hard, loving use because of all the seams.
It tells you step by step how to make a sock monkey. From the arms and leg s to the body and head. Then it tells you how to finish the sock monkey off.
